Greetings for Different Times of Day

Here are common greetings for different times of day in Filipino, along with their general time ranges.

Time Range: Typically from sunrise

(around 5:00 AM - 6:00 AM) until 12:00 PM (noon).

Magandang umaga means Good Morning.

Time Range: Specifically around 12:00 PM (noon) to 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM. This greeting is used when the sun is at its highest point.

Magandang tanghali means Good Noon.

Time Range: From approximately 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM until sunset (around 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM).

Magandang hapon means Good Afternoon.

Time Range: From sunset (around 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) onwards through the night until sunrise.

Magandang gabi means Good evening.
